Computer Applications and Digital Media Design, Minor in

Offered jointly by the Department of Fine Arts, Design, Art History  and the Department of Computer Science .

The minor in Computer Applications and Digital Media Design is an interdisciplinary program that educates students in developing and integrating digital media arts and design into computer applications, including computer games and Web and mobile applications. Digital media enhance the experience of computer games and applications. The integrated study of computer applications and digital media design can result in interesting job opportunities for graduates, since digital media and computer applications are often designed and developed together rather than separately. The minor may be taken by students in any major, and is particularly suitable for computer science and fine arts majors.

The minor in Computer Applications and Digital Media Design consists of the successful completion of 18 semester hours. It includes two required courses: FA 102A - Introduction to New Media Design  (3 s.h.) and either CSC 006 - (CS) The Art and Science of Computer Games  (3 s.h.) or CSC 015 - (CS) Fundamentals of Computer Science I: Problem Solving and Program Design  (4 s.h.), and 6 s.h. of appropriate fine arts electives (as listed below) and 6 s.h. of appropriate computer science electives (as listed below).

Elective Courses – Semester Hours: minimum 12


including at least 6 s.h. in fine arts courses, and at least 6 s.h. in computer science courses (see below).
