MFT 269 - Practicum and Ethical Issues in Couple, Marriage and Family Therapy I

Fall, Spring

This practicum is geared toward skill-building in systemic therapy. It combines couple and family systems theory and ethical principles of the field and applies them to clinical practice. Students will practice developing psychotherapeutic interventions and accessing resources as core components of MFT practice. Course activities involve discussion of AAMFT ethical principles and systemic clinical theories as they apply to real-world practice, case presentations and discussion, role-plays, and viewing of recorded therapy sessions with clients. This course includes supervised clinical fieldwork during which students complete a minimum of 50 direct client contact hours toward the required total needed to graduate from the MFT program . Accumulation of 50 direct client contact hours (+/- 20%) must be achieved to pass the practicum and register for MFT 270.
