MPHY 231 - Fundamentals of Imaging in Medicine II Semester Hours: 3

Advanced medical imaging techniques and methods in continuation of MPHY 230. Topics include: (A) signals and systems, Fourier transform and sampling theory, maximum Likelihood methods; (B) image quality and reconstruction methods for computed/emission tomography, cone-beam computed tomography; (C) MRI physics, bloch equation, relaxation, spatial encoding, pulses sequences, contrast agents, diffuaion/functional/ spectroscopy imaging, artifacts, QA.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: MPHY 230 . Open only to students enrolled in the MS program in medical physics or permission of program director. May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis. (Formerly Fundamentals of Medical Imaging II; 2 s.h., Fundamentals of Medical Imaging II; 3 s.h.)
