BIOL 240 - Molecular Medicine

Uncovering the root cause of human diseases is the key to discovering cures and informing treatments. This course will explore the current state of research into the cellular mechanisms that cause various diseases, including but not limited to cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disease, and cancer. In addition to exploring human disease at a molecular level, this course is also designed to help students become proficient in reading, synthesizing and writing about scientific literature.

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
Undergraduate courses in cell biology and genetics, or permission of the instructor. May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis. (Formerly BIO 253A, Special Topics in Biology: Molecular Medicine.)

Credit is given for either this course or BIO 242, or BIO 141. (Formerly BIO 242)
