BIOL 260 - Immunology Semester Hours: 3 This course is designed as an introduction to the principles of immunology. Students will gain an understanding of how the immune system develops, functions, and establishes memory. Topics will include a broad survey of the cells and organs required for a fully functional immune system. Students will discuss the role of the immune system for preventing infectious disease, development of hypersensitivity, allergy and autoimmune disorders, and cancer. (3 hours lecture)
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Undergraduate coursework in cell biology and / or microbiology strongly recommended.
