TAX 230 - Tax Considerations in Personal Financial Planning

This course will examine tax planning strategies for individuals.  This course will cover comprehensive strategies and situations, including investment and investment vehicle selection, tax-advantaged education savings, estate and gift planning, and trusts and related valuation techniques.  The course will also address various deductible and nondeductible retirement savings options and their tax consequences.  Macroeconomic and market trends, regulation, and tax policy implications will be integrated into the curriculum.  Analytical tools and technology will be applied to individual scenarios via case studies, simulations, or other exercises.

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
ACCT 143 or approved equivalent. Open only to matriculated MS in Taxation students or with permission of the Department Chairperson.
