DPT 510 - Motor Control


Semester Hours: 3
This course analyzes and synthesizes human movements and performance as related to neuroscience, biomechanics, motor control and motor learning. This course focuses on understanding human movements, factors that control and influence movements, movement patterns and skills. This course presents theories of motor control and motor learning, issues related to performance, development and control of posture and mobility functions and control of reach, grasp, and manipulation activities. This course introduces neural plasticity and recovery of function. This course synthesizes how to apply the information learned about motor control for the evaluation and intervention for individuals with movement dysfunctions.

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
Prerequisites for this course include all preceding coursework in the curriculum. Any exceptions require approval from the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT).  May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis.
