DPT 528 - Evidence-Based Practice II Semester Hours: 2 This course is designed to facilitate students research and evidence-based knowledge and skills and their clinical application to physical therapy practice. Students will learn to use published articles to answer clinical questions regarding patient’s/client’s diagnosis, measurement, prognosis, intervention, comparison intervention, and outcomes using research designs, variables, measurement, and validity. The course emphasizes analyzing, interpreting and clinical application of the evidence to clinical practice patient management. Application of research and evidence-based practice to clinical reasoning and clinical decision-making are discussed. Emphasis is placed on formulation of the research question, hypotheses, study design, and study plan including study variables, measurement, reliability, validity, data collection, and statistical analysis.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Prerequisites for this course include all preceding coursework in the curriculum. Any exceptions require approval from the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program Director. May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis.
