DPT 507 - Culture, Teaching, and Psychosocial Topics in Clinical Practice


Semester Hours: 2
This course is designed to explore the educational role of physical therapists in healthcare and clinical settings, and to examine cultural and psychosocial issues of various populations in health care with emphasis in physical therapy. The role of the physical therapists as learners and educators in healthcare and in the clinical environment are explored with emphasis placed on teaching, learning and motivation theories, learning styles and needs, and their applicability in the clinical and professional environments. The impact of disease disability and adjustment, sexuality, death and dying, conflict management and stress management are discussed.

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
Open only to students enrolled in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis.
