SPED 219S - Student Teaching in Self-Contained Special Education Settings Semester Hours: 3 Fall, Spring
Full-time student teaching for matriculated students with no NYS teaching certification seeking a master’s degree as well as certification in students with disabilities birth-grade 2 or students with disabilities (pre-k-12), all grades as well as early childhood or childhood education. Students are placed in self-contained educational settings, Prek-12. Students spend a minimum of 35 days in this setting. Upon completion of student teaching, students must have completed all state-mandated seminars addressing the issues of child abuse and abduction, substance abuse, violence prevention, fire and arson prevention and safety education and anti-bullying. Admission by permission of adviser and application to the Office of Field Placement and the Department of Specialized Programs in Education.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Completion of all core courses. Students must register for SPED 219G and 219S concurrently. Pass/Fail grade only.
