HIST 178 - Special Studies in History: The Present in Perspective: The Impact
of Deliberative Democracy & Leadership in American Society Examining current issues in historical perspective (e.g. race, ethnic
tensions, America’s role in the world, alcohol abuse, drugs,
censorship, civil liberties, aging, health care, and terrorism). This
course will focus on the roles of citizens and leaders in reaching
deliberative judgments regarding public policy (past and present).
Students who take this course will have an opportunity, if they wish to
choose it, to be part of a leadership project at Hofstra during the
spring term.
