AFST 123 - Life and Death in the Black CommunitySemester Hours: 3 Periodically
This course introduces students to the impact of race, class and gender on the
health status of African Americans in the United States. It focuses on concepts
of race, ethnicity and the perception of human differences; the biological basis
of human variation; and the impact of state policies on patterns of disease, reproduction,
and death among African Americans with an emphasis on the ethical questions these
policies pose.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: One of the following: HIST 115, 116; ANTH 108.
