A survey, mainly of painting, through the main period-styles of neoclassicism, romanticism, realism, naturalism, impressionism and post impressionism, with attention to parallel developments in contemporary culture and society. Emphasis on French, Spanish, English, and German art, with some attention to graphics (drawing; early lithography and photography).
