COMH 214 - Comparative Health Policies and Systems


Semester Hours: 3
Fall, Spring
This course presents a systematic comparative analysis of the origin, development, administrative structure, and the financial implications of medical care services in health care policy and systems around the world.  Important differences embedded in a country’s history, cultural context, ethnic make-up, and social, economic and political policies will be examined.  In addition to exploring differences among health care systems, this course will also analyze obstacles faced by all countries, such as an aging population, the threat of bioterrorism, insect-borne diseases and controversial technological advances. 

Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes:
May not be taken on a Pass/Fail basis.
