LIT 89 - (LT, CC) Beauty and Sadness in Japanese Literature and Culture Periodically
Examination of the main genres and developments of Japanese literature
from its origins in the 7th and 8th centuries, to the Tale of Genji
(circa 1010), through the post-World War II period to the present, and
describes the sensibility and modes of perception that inform these
works. This inquiry into Japanese culture extends beyond literature to
include the graphic arts, painting, and film in their relation to
literary expression.
