GEOL 31 - Crystallography and Mineralogy


Every other Fall
Classification and identification of over 100 common economic and rock-forming minerals based on their composition, external crystal morphology, and physical and chemical characteristics. Includes the study of geometric and atomic crystal models and the principles and interpretation of x-ray diffraction techniques. (2 hours lecture, 3 hours laboratory.)
