Examination of basic methodological issues and problems in the modern study of religion. Discussion of theories of religion from several points of view, e.g., sociological, psychological, anthropological and philosophical. Attention to such problems as the relativity of knowledge and belief, the nature of interpretation, the status of functional explanation, and the explanation of human behavior.
