ELED 125A - Child Development in the School Setting, Home and Community


Fall, Spring
Study of children’s development as active learners in the school setting is related to the social context of schooling. Issues of diverse sociocultural family, community, health, nutrition and safety influences on children’s learning are explored. Individual variations, special learning needs, motivation, and discipline are examined as well as issues in evaluation and assessment. Fifty clock hours of reflective participation and observation in public pre-kindergarten or registered nursery school under close clinical supervision are required.

Prerequisites & Notes
Admission to the program in Elementary Education and permission of the instructor. Credit given for this course or 125, not both.
