SOE 004B: Prevention of Alcohol, Tobacco and Drug Abuse (Substance Abuse)Semester Hours: No credit The course shall provide study that will permit candidates to obtain the knowledge and skills and means for identifying substance abuse, in accordance with Education Law, section 804. The seminar is developed for teachers, pupil service personnel and administrators to provide students with the knowledge and tools necessary to identify substance abuse in children. The course provides instruction regarding alcohol, tobacco and other drugs so as to discourage the misuse and abuse of these substances and to promote attitudes and behaviors that enhance health, well-being and human dignity. Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Distance learning format. Available to individuals not currently enrolled in a Hofstra undergraduate or graduate program. Certificate of completion issued to individual.
