MPH 220 - Environmental and Occupational Health Semester Hours: 3 This course will introduce students to important issues and concepts in the fields of occupational and environmental health. Classes will cover varied aspects of the field, including air and water pollution, workplace exposures to hazardous substances, and exposures to hazardous agents in the home. Regulation by government agencies at the federal and state level will be discussed, as will policies for implementing environmental health programs. The science of environmental health will be reviewed, with special emphasis on health effects of environmental exposures. Case studies will be used throughout the course, since case studies provide foci for discussion in class as well as development of each student’s own understanding of issues and concepts in the field of environmental health.
