SPED 294 - Strategies for Teaching Children with Autism and Moderate Intellectual Disabilities, Grades 7-12 Semester Hours: 3 Fall, Spring
This course introduces research-based strategies and interventions for teaching adolescent students with autism (ASD) and intellectual disabilities (ID). The curriculum includes a review of the characteristics of learners with ASD and ID; specific means of assessment, diagnosis, and evaluation; examination of materials, assistive devices, and programs for instruction, for student behavior and social interaction skills, and vocational transition. Students will be required to complete 20 hours of participant observation.
