SPED 204I - Working with Families of Children with Disabilities: An International Perspective Semester Hours: 3 Fall
This course focuses on the principles and practices of collaboration to strengthen family-teacher partnerships with emphasis on racial and cultural diversity. Students examine ways to develop cultural competency, communicate effectively with parents, and build collaborative partnerships between parents and educators, as well as serve as advocates for children with special needs. The course will discuss resources available to parents, and the issues facing families of children with disabilities across developmental levels and the range of disabilities with an international perspective.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: Special Education: International Perspectives (non certification), MSEd students only.
