Students become familiar with the foundations of assessment in special education and the basic concepts of descriptive statistics and measurement of behavior as well as the use of a variety of functional and authentic performance-based assessment strategies. Multicultural concerns and the role of parents in the assessment of young children with disabilities are emphasized.
