NUR 212 - Leadership and Role Transition I Semester Hours: 0.5 This course is the first of four seminars designed to provide the learner with a comprehensive foundation of the knowledge and skills needed to transition from registered nurse to advanced practice nurse. Seminars will increase in complexity as the student progresses through the program. The seminar series in Leadership and Role Transition will integrate the materials from courses offered concurrently in each semester. Focus will be on the scope of advanced practice nursing inclusive of legal and ethical foundations. Learners will be introduced also to major theoretical and conceptual models of health care leadership and participate in self-assessment activities. This course will promote recognition and respect for the contributions of interprofessional team members, and encourage advanced practice nurses to collaborate in the management of patients across the lifecycle. The course implements an interprofessional learning model introducing perspectives of administrators, physicians, advanced practice nurses, and registered nurses into the process of learning.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: For Graduate Nursing Majors only.
