BAN 272 - Social Media and Web Analytics Semester Hours: 3 Fall, Spring
The course is designed to provide students with the ability to collect and analyze social media and Web data using analytic techniques and tools. This course focuses on the automatic discovery of interesting and useful patterns from the data associated with the usage, content, and the linkage structure of social media and Web resources. The topics covered in this course include Web crawling, information retrieval, text mining, graph mining, and applications (e.g., recommender systems, sentiment analysis, and profiling). In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of social media and Web analytics, including analytic techniques and real-world analytic applications.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: BAN 203 and IT 270 .
