Program Requirements - Total Semester Hours: 40


The departmental requirement for speech-language majors is 124 semester hours for the B.A. degree, including 40 semester hours in the major area as follows:

Additional Requirements


In addition to the courses listed above, students must complete, under advisement, the following requirements:

  1. At least 3 semester hours in Biology
  2. At least 3 semester hours in Astronomy, Chemistry, Geology, Natural Sciences or Physics.
  3. At least 3 semester hours in Anthropology or Psychology or Sociology.

* Note: This requirement is separate from the requirement from PSY 40, listed above.

  1. At least 3 semester hours in Statistics.

Notes

  • It is possible to choose courses within these four areas which will also satisfy the B.A. Distribution Requirements.
  • Undergraduates may not register for graduate-level courses in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology.
  • BIO 100  may not be substituted for PSY 040 . Only SOC 180  may be substituted for PSY 40. PSY 40 is an additional course requirement needed to prepare for ASHA certification.
  • PSY 040 may be used to satisfy the additional requirement in statistics.
