Mathematics, Bachelor of Arts/Master of Business Administration, Dual-degree

Students must complete a minimum of 155 semester hours: a minimum of 115 semester hours toward their undergraduate degree and a minimum of 40 semester hours of graduate work toward the M.B.A. A sample schedule for the combined degree is available from either the Mathematics Department or Zarb School of Business.

Students admitted to this dual-degree program will receive a B.A. in Mathematics upon completion of the following requirements:

  1. The complete B.A. requirements described in the Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences section of the Undergraduate Bulletin. In particular, successful completion of a total of 124 semester hours, including at least 115 semester hours of undergraduate course work and at most 9 semester hours of M.B.A.-level graduate course work.
  2. The specific major requirements described in the B.A. Major in Mathematics, as listed below.

MATH 71, 72, 73, 100, 114, 135A, 145, 171; 138* or 146 or 172 or 173; 12* additional semester hours in advanced mathematics courses numbered above 100; PHYS 11A and 11B. QM 122 is strongly recommended.

* MATH 137 is strongly recommended for three of the 12 s.h. of additional advanced undergraduate mathematics courses numbered above 100, and MATH 138 is strongly recommended for the 138/146/172/173 requirement for those students in this program who do take MATH 137. MATH 137 together with MATH 138 will satisfy the QM 1 prerequisite for QM 122.
