Russian and Post-Soviet Studies (RPSS), Minor in

The minor in Russian consists of 12 semester hours in Russian language (beyond level one), chosen under advisement and

6 s.h. hours of Russian literature and culture courses, as follows:  

Students will ordinarily take 3 s.h. in the LIT 71-74 sequence and 3 s.h. in the RUS 151-154 sequence, but may substitute other courses with a substantial Russian component, under advisement.

  • Students must take a minimum of one Advanced Russian Language course (RUS 101-106).

Russian Literature in Translation or Russian Culture


Russian Literature in Translation or Russian Culture  – Total Semester Hours:  6

3 s.h. Chosen from the following courses:

  • LIT 071 - (LT) Russian Culture and Literature: Between Asia and Europe 
  • LIT 072 - (LT) Russian Literature in Translation 
  • LIT 073 - (LT) Russian Literature in Translation 

3 s.h. in Russian Literature (RUS 151-154)

  • RUS 151 - (LT) Masterpieces of Russian Literature Semester Hours: 3 (readings and course work in Russian)
  • RUS 152 - (LT) Masterpieces of Russian Literature Semester Hours: 3 (readings and course work in Russian)
  • RUS 153 - (LT) Masterpieces of Russian Literature Semester Hours: 3 (readings and course work in Russian)

Other Electives


Other courses (e.g. History, Political Science, and European Studies) may count towards the minor chosen under advisement with the chairperson of the department of Comparative Literatures, Languages, and Linguistics.
