SPED 312 - Contemporary Cultures and Special Education Semester Hours: 3 Periodically
This course is intended to provide students with an understanding of diversity. Students explore various topics, including culture, ethnicity, race, nationality, age, gender, sexual orientation, mental and physical characteristics, education, values, and socioeconomic status. The focus is to provide students with a heightened awareness and appreciation of difference. Students will reflect on their own culture and how it may impact their behavior and understand the effects of culture and ethnicity on others. The relevance of diversity issues in the implementation of behavior analytic services will be an area of focus.
