SPED 264I - Introduction to Inclusive Education: An International Perspective

Fall
This course introduces the foundations of special education, including the history, philosophy and legal mandates; the rights of students with disabilities and their families; and the responsibilities of teachers and other professionals. This course emphasizes enhancing the learning of all students in inclusive settings, employing a non-categorical, rather than a disabilities-oriented approach, to special education. Current trends from an international perspective, critical issues, and research relevant to individuals with special learning needs as full members of their communities, are examined.

Special Education: International Perspectives (non certification), MSEd  students only.
