CRWR 243 - Personal Essay Writing Workshop Periodically
A graduate-level workshop in the writing of personal essays. In addition to writing
their own essays and discussing their essays with the instructor and other members
of the workshop, students read and discuss what essayists have written about the
theory and practice of the personal essay. They also read personal essays in connection
with the study of the characteristic topics, strategies, and formal issues associated
with the genre. Some attention is also paid to the historical development of the
personal essay and to the way in which the conventions of the form differ in different
cultures. May be repeated for credit when topics vary. (Formerly ENGL 243)
Credits: 3 s.h.
