An examination of Milton’s career as poet, revolutionary, and statesman. Attention
given to Milton’s considerable literary achievement in a range of poetic forms-among
them the sonnet, ode, elegy, masque, epic, and tragedy-and to his formulations,
in both poetry and prose, about social, political, and religious matters that
are central to his period.
