An in-depth exploration of the basic audiological evaluation. Theoretical and
practical issues regarding pure tone testing, speech threshold and speech discrimination
testing, and immittance testing are examined. Careful attention is given to goals
of assessing the site of auditory lesion and the extent of the communicative handicap.
Logic and application of clinical masking, and the effects of cultural diversity
and aging on test dynamics are emphasized.
