ELED 243 - Multicultural Perspectives on Early Childhood Development Fall, Spring
This course explores the physical health, nutrition, safety, social, emotional,
aesthetic, linguistic, and cognitive characteristics of young children from diverse
sociocultural backgrounds with an emphasis on implications for group care and
education. Global perspectives on prenatal development through the primary school
years frame discussion of both typical and atypical growth and learning. Fifteen
clock hours of reflective participation and observation in a high need public
or registered group setting for pre-k children.
Prerequisites & Notes Admission to the M.S. in Education program in early childhood or permission of
the instructor. (Formerly Advanced Child Development for Teachers.) Students provide
their own transportation.
