MFT 243 - Historical Approaches, Family Perspectives and Current Theories of Alcohol and Drug Abuse

This course is designed to expose students to the current scope of alcohol and
other drug problems, to provide a historical perspective on substance abuse problems
and to discuss policy, funding and trends in the United States from a family systems
perspective. Socio-economic and socio-cultural theories of substance abuse and
addiction will be explored with regard to special populations and communities.
