LYST 240 - Assessment and Evaluation of Reading and Writing Fall, Spring, Summer
This course provides participants with an overview of ethnographic literacy assessment
theory and practice. Topics for study include ethnography, authentic classroom
assessment, transactional view of language, and a critical examination of standardized
tests and testing practices. Participants consider teaching, learning, and schooling
from the perspective of the learner as they develop and put into practice a student
advocacy model of instructional assessment which values ethnic and linguistic
diversity.
Prerequisites & Notes Completion of Phase I Literacy Studies courses. (Formerly READ 248.)
