READ 226 - Language and Literacy Fall, January, Spring, Summer
A study of the relationship between language and literacy development. Topics
include: language acquisition and development, classroom discourse, sociocultural
variations in language, relationship between language and cognition, and language-based
literacy difficulties. Curriculum, as well as instructional strategies and materials
promoting language development, are explored. Course emphasized language assessment.
Collection and analysis of language samples required. Fifteen hour field component.
Credits: 3 s.h.
