CRSR 288S - Workshop: Human Rights and Conflict Transformation: A Global Perspective for Counselors and Educators This course is designed to provide the counselors and educations with an understanding of human rights, social justice and conflict transformation for a global perspective. Using the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a pedagogical vehicle, this course is designed to provide the student with an introduction to the concepts underpinning Human Rights Education around the world. Human rights issues facing contemporary societies, with a focus on Italy as a case study and the EU as backdrop, will be examined and comparisons drawn to the American context. Human rights concerns related to refugees, immigrants, human trafficking, women and child, religion, xenophobia, and the rights of glbt individuals and the disabled will be explored. Anti-racism and conflict transformation strategies taken from international settings will be explored for application of best practice home.
