The multiple ways in which viruses interact with cellular molecules and organelles are explored, facilitating a deeper understanding of cell biology and genetics. Representative viruses that cause significant disease will be covered in detail, as well as current public health issues involving viruses. Also covered is the role of natural selection on both viruses and hosts. Students will learn about techniques used to identify, quantify and analyze viruses.
