FA 170A - Intermediate PhotographySemester Hours: 3 Fall, Spring
This course focuses on advanced techniques and aesthetics of black and white printing, as well as on giving students a deeper and more expansive understanding of what a photograph can be. Students will print with 11”x14” fiber paper (or larger) and learn to make the fine print. Great opportunity for experimentation with technique, form and content. Students are encouraged to develop their own personal vision. In the latter part of the semester students will use color film and may wish (option only) to include digital technology in their work: scanning negatives, shooting and /or printing digitally. Assignments, class critiques and discussions on historical/contemporary photographers and issues.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: FA 170 or permission of instructor.
