For more information, please contact the Department of Teaching, Learning and Technology .

The master’s program in curriculum studies is offered by the Department of Teaching, Learning and Technology . The program is for students interested in pursuing studies in the development of elementary, middle school, and high school curriculum, but who are not interested in receiving New York state teacher certification. The program blends on-campus preparation with field experiences in a variety of school settings, including high-needs schools. This program provides an interdisciplinary approach to the study of curriculum. Courses of study are selected under advisement. Some courses require field placements.

Please note: This program does not lead to New York state certification.

Admission Requirements

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in liberal arts and sciences concentration.
  2. A minimum GPA of 2.75 in each of two categories:

♦ Overall undergraduate course work
♦ Course work in the liberal arts and sciences

  1. Students with a GPA lower than 2.75 but not below 2.5 may be considered for provisional acceptance subject to special conditions.
  2. A written personal statement of professional intent and rationale.

The department understands that any single criterion may not reliably predict a candidate’s potential for success in a graduate program. Candidates are welcome to apply if they do not meet one of the criteria but feel that other aspects of their experiences might compensate.
