This interdisciplinary degree program is designed to prepare graduate students to pursue careers focused on healthy aging.*  Students will explore the behavioral, practical, and psychosocial aspects of adults throughout the elder lifespan, including: effective communication, public policy, social and health planning program development, and evaluation of services all as they relate to healthy aging.   

As demographics continue to change and our older population continues to grow, specialized knowledge and skills are needed to understand the impact of aging on the individual and on society.  It is predicted that during the next decade, the eldercare industry will be one of the largest employing sectors.  A master’s degree in gerontology: healthy aging provides students with the education and practical skills with a multifaceted knowledge base and experience which will increase their effectiveness in responding to the needs and advocating for an aging population.**

*This program does not qualify students for licensure in any profession.
