This program is designed for students who wish to pursue careers in human cytogenetics.
It provides a strong biology and cell biology base with special courses in cytogenetics
and an internship period in a clinical cytogenetics laboratory. Graduates of the
program will be prepared for laboratory careers in cytogenetic technology or further
education in a related field.
Students who wish to be eligible for the certification examination for Clinical
Laboratory Specialist in Cytogenetics upon completion of the program, must enroll
in BIO 306 (Internship in Cytogenetics) for two semesters (6 s.h. total). The
second semester of 306 can be used as one of the electives.
