NUR 251B - FNP I: Health Promotion in Clinical Populations & Complex Systems (Women & Adult) Semester Hours: 3 This is the first of four clinical practica which provides a comprehensive foundation in the primary care of the adult populations with a special focus on gender-specific issues. Students will participate in a precepted clinical rotation in an adult and women’s health care setting that provides the opportunity for health assessment in an adult patient across the lifespan and of a comprehensive plan of care. A specialized focus on gender-specific issues including unique problems of women, from menarche through senescence will be explored. A clinical practicum will focus on health promotion, disease prevention, well-adult care, prenatal and postpartum care, care of the transgender populations, and common gender-specific health issues. Students will be exposed to transitional coordination of care as patient returns to the community following hospitalization. Learners will also have intensive advanced skills and simulation to better prepare learners for opportunities to perform skills during their clinical practicum. Clinical practicums will include, adult primary care, obstetrics and gynecology, and reproductive gender-specific clinics with the inclusion of the delivery of care through home visits and telehealth modalities if available.
