NUR 261B - Advanced Adult-Gerontology in Acute Care I


Semester Hours: 3


This is the first of four clinical courses which focus on complex symptom management related to urgent, emergent and chronically ill patients within the acute care setting. The goal of the course is to provide the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner student with the ability to use critical decision making to formulate a differential diagnosis, comprehensive, evidence-based management, as well as pharmacological management for the urgent, emergent, and chronically ill adult-gerontologic patients within a framework of safe, holistic, culturally competent, scientifically sound, quality-patient centered care.  Health promotion, maintenance, and disease prevention are emphasized, along with risk assessment.
