SPAN 122 - Economic History of Spain and Latin America: Literary Projections

Periodically

A cultural analysis of the geography and resources of the Hispanic countries, the origins and cultural consequences of their economic systems, and industrial development. Focus on representations of land and land use (both rural and urban), exploring themes such as: landscape in Spanish poetry of the 20th century, nature and neo-colonial extract economies in the Spanish-American rural novel, and the shaping force of the plantation in Afro-Caribbean literature. This course, as all courses with the SPAN prefix, is taught in Spanish.
