SPAN 129 - (LT) Changing Times: Spanish Literature and Culture after 1975

Semester Hours: 3

Once a year
When the dictator Francisco Franco, who had remained forcibly in power since 1939, died of old age in 1975, Spain initiated a new era characterized by rapid changes in every aspect of life. This course looks at literature and other forms of cultural expression created around and after 1975, or works that revisit the period of recent Spanish history. We will pay attention to the socio-political contexts and address questions like gender and sexuality, nationalism, education, etc., as they related to literary and cultural production. This course, as all courses with the SPAN prefix, is taught in Spanish.
