SPAN 133 - (LT) The Latin American Fantastic Short StorySemester Hours: 3
This course analyzes in-depth the presence of the fantastic genre in certain remarkable short stories by Spanish-American authors from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present. These stories denote the presence of unusual events, which can be supernatural or paranormal, recreating different levels of meaning as diverse as dissimilar. Among the authors to study are Rubén Darío (Nicaragua), Leopoldo Lugones and Jorge Luis Borges (Argentina), César Vallejo (Perú), Horacio Quiroga (Uruguay), Augusto Monterroso (Guatemala), Gabriel García Márquez (Colombia), and José Emilio Pacheco (México). This course, as all courses with the SPAN prefix, is taught in Spanish.
