JRNL 146 - Television Production: Live SportsSemester Hours: 3 This course gives students the opportunity to develop an original, comprehensive production plan to cover live sports games. Rather than producing a conventional sport with established routines, students use one (for example, dodgeball) that challenges them to create an original production design. The broadcast team plans all major coverage considerations - selecting and developing on-air talent, advanced production planning using multiple cameras, graphics, and replays, creating a sophisticated run-of-show, producing and directing the predictably unpredictable game itself, marketing and promotion through social media, etc. Preproduction planning culminates in the production of multiple live games and prepares students for the many demanding opportunities afforded by live sports.
Prerequisite(s)/Course Notes: JRNL 025 and JRNL 031, and either RTVF 091 or 094. No liberal arts credit. Admission to class by permission of the department chairperson. Lab fee additional. Credit is given for this course or RTVF 146.
