SPAN 147 - Introduction to Spanish LinguisticsSemester Hours: 3
This course offers a general overview of the Spanish language from a linguistic point of view. Students will learn and apply the main concepts related to the study of Spanish sounds and phonemes (Phonetics and Phonology); the analysis of the structure of the words (Morphology); the structure of sentences (Syntax); the study of the Spanish language in society and its political and ideological context (Sociolinguistics); the history of the language, and the presence of Spanish in the United States. This course, as all courses with the SPAN prefix, is taught in Spanish.
